Congress seeks judicial probe into Lucknow sectarian clash

Led by party leader Swarup Kumari Bakshi, the delegation also sought adequate security arrangements in the city ahead of the festival of Barawafat on January 25 to check recurrence of such incidents.

Calling for stern action against those indulged in violence, the party demanded transfer of the officials found guilty of laxity.

It also sought a compensation of Rs 20 lakh for the family of the deceased, besides a government job to one of their family members.

On the night of January 16, one person was killed and over a dozen were injured after clashes had erupted in Wazirganj area following tension between two sects of Muslim community during a religious ceremony.

 

One more person injured in the clash had succumbed to his injuries two days later, taking the toll to two.
