Congress moves EC for transfer of Amritsar SSP (Rural)

Party alleged partisan way of functioning and "threats" to party supporters

Press Trust of India Amritsar
Congress today moved the Election Commission seeking immediate transfer of Amritsar SSP (Rural) for his alleged partisan way of functioning and "threats" to party supporters.

In a complaint to the EC, the party said on the directions of Gurpreet Gill, Saidan Jarnail Singh, SHO (Bhindi) had allegedly threatened a Congress sarpanch Sadda Singh after he refused to support the ruling Akali-BJP alliance.

The SHO had even provoked an attack on the sarpanch in which his car was damaged, it said.

The party alleged that during the last assembly elections in 2012, Gill was transferred out of Patiala following similar complaints.
