Congress today declined to comment on Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta indicting 199 people, including two former BSP ministers, for irregularities in construction of memorials and parks during the previous Mayawati regime.

"We have just came to know of the report," Congress spokesman Raj Babbar said at the AICC briefing when asked about the party's reaction to the irregularities to the tune of Rs 1,400 crore in the construction of memorials and parks.

The Congress reaction came close on the heels of Lokayukta N K Mehrotra submitting his report to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow today.

Former BSP ministers Naseemuddin Siddiqui and Babu Singh Kushwaha are among the 199 people indicted by the UP Lokayuktya.

The Lokayukta report is seen as a setback to the former UP Chief Minister and BSP supremo Mayawati.
