: Karnataka Forests Minister and Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge B Ramnath Rai today said reopening of the National Herald case against Congress leaders was part of a 'malicious campaign' and a clear example of revenge politics being pursued by the BJP-led government at the Centre.
Addressing a protest march by Congress workers in front of the deputy commissioner's office here, he said there was need to create a nationwide awareness against such malicious propaganada. If Subramanian Swamy's intention was to send Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to jail, subsequent agitations would result in the collapse of the NDA government, he said.
Congress MLC Ivan D'Souza also slammed Subramanian Swamy as "an agent of the BJP" and said his politics of vengeance would not work in the country. By raking up the Herald case, he was trying to 'humiliate' leaders of the Congress party, who worked for the country's independence, he said.
AICC member P V Mohan, DCC interim president Ibrahim Kodijal and Seva Dal president K Ashraf were among those who addressed the protestors.
