The Congress today organised a rally near the CBI office here in support of the CBI probe into the Saradha chit fund scam.
The police stopped the rally from marching towards the gate of the CBI office where TMC's women supporters sat on a dharna to protest against the CBI probe.
West Bengal Congress president Adhir Chowdhury described the stopping of the rally by the police as a 'shame', regretting that "while the TMC was being allowed to hold the dharna, we are not allowed".
Police officials in Bidhanagar Police commissionarate refused to comment on the matter.
