Ahead of the budget session of the Maharashtra legislature which would start from March 9, opposition Congress today said it will raise issues ranging from deteriorating law and order to scrapping of Muslim reservations bill to corner the BJP-Shiv Sena government.
Leader of opposition in the Legislative Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil said issues like diversion of water from Damanganga-Pinjal and Nar-Par to Gujarat and the scrapping of River Regulatory Authority Act would also be taken up.
"The law and order situation is deteriorating day by day. There are serious concerns that need to be addressed against the backdrop of (anti-toll activist) Govind Pansare's killing. The DGP says he is unable to find clues even after 15 days. This is a complete failure of the police machinery. We have been demanding the DGP's removal, but we fail to understand why does (Chief Minister) Fadnavis want incompetent people in the police force," Patil told PTI.

Devendra Fadnavis also failed to keep his promise on the issue of Muslim-reservation, made in the winter session, he said.
Speaking at the conclusion of the winter session at Nagpur, Fadnavis had said his government was trying to find a way out of the legal tangle where the High court had upheld quotas for the Muslims in education while striking down that in jobs.
"What was assured by the Chief Minister in the Nagpur session with regard to Muslims had not been fulfilled. The Court had agreed to give 5 per cent reservation for education but due to the non-seriousness and the non-commitment of the government, the bill has lapsed.
"Are we encouraging right wing communal forces? It seems the government is under pressure from the communal forces to act against the interest of Muslims. The secular nature of the state government all these years is being diluted and compromised," Patil said.
