Opposition Congress today said it will table a breach of privilege motion against the BJP-led Maharashtra Government during the Winter Session of the state legislature which will begin in Nagpur from December 5.

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said during the Budget session in March this year, the then Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse had announced that the financial compensation for the kin of farmers who committed suicide will be increased from Rs one lakh to Rs five lakh.

"He had said the decision will be taken and implemented soon," Patil said.

However, as per a response to an RTI query, such a proposal was never under consideration of the government, the Congress leader claimed.

"The government is insensitive towards the farmers and only makes tall promises," Patil said, adding that his party would table a breach of privilege notice on the issue in the coming session.
