Claiming that neither Congress nor BJP will be near to forming the next government, CPI leader A B Bardhan today said that Left parties and the regional forces would do much better in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

"The Congress will come nowhere near power. It seats tally will drop drastically. I am not a fortune-teller, but being a political being who has known this country very well, I feel it won't get more than 110-120 seats. And, the BJP which is thinking that it will form the next government is simply day dreaming," Bardhan told reporters here.

Stating that the BJP was trying to convert the next general elections as one between the personalities of Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi, he said "BJP can hardly pose any alternative to Congress, it won't go above 140-145 seats. People will give them a fitting reply."

He claimed that the Left and regional parties would do well in the Lok Sabha polls and there would be a new political realignment which would come to power based on certain programmes and policies.

"The Left will do well. Non-congress and non-BJP parties too will do well, therefore a new alignment of forces will come to power. We the Left will have state specific assessment with non congress and non BJP parties," said Bardhan.
