Two Congress workers, including a woman, suffered burn injuries while setting ablaze an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at their party office here.

The woman, Meena Devi, came in the close contact with the blazing effigy and her garment caught fire which was immediately doused by other workers, Congress district president Harendra Kasana said.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Another worker, Narendra Balmiki, who was trying to help the woman extinguish the fire, also sustained slight burn injuries and was given treatment.

The party workers were protesting against the BJP government's "false promises" regarding black money, corruption and inflation in the country, Kasana said.
