Assam's flood situation improved considerably today with the water level receding further, leaving only three districts affected by the fourth wave of deluge, according to a report by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
A total of 18,249 people are still affected by the current wave of floods in 30 villages under five revenue circles and 609.33 hectares of cropland remained inundated, the report said.
Currently, 2,011 inmates are housed in 12 relief camps set up by the administrative authorities.

The latest wave of floods has breached an embankment at Manikpur area in Goalpara district. Several stretches of road have been damaged by overtopping in Dhemaji and some areas of Goalpara district.
According to a Central Water Commission (CWC) report, rivers Brahmaputra at Nematighat in Jorhat district, Dhansiri at Numaligarh in Golaghat district and Jia Bhoroli in Sonitpur district were flowing above the danger mark.
The third wave of devastating floods had claimed 76 lives across the state, taking this year's death toll to 160.
Meanwhile, the Centre has constituted a high-level committee for proper management of water resources in the North Eastern Region (NER) under the Chairmanship of Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar.
