'Considerable' increase in green belt area in UP: Akhilesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said green belt area in the state has increased "considerably" in the last two years due to the efforts of his government.

"The government worked seriously to increase the number of trees in the state as a result green belt area has increased considerably in the last two years," the chief minister said in Kanpur.

He was in the city zoological park to dedicate children train to the people.

Yadav said that after Lucknow, Kanpur zoo was the second biggest zoological garden in the state where the children train has been provided within a year.
 

Appreciating the forest department, he said that it has done some new and innovative works.

Yadav said that while on one hand the department paid attention to plantation, it also worked seriously to protect the trees on the other hand.

Principal Secretary Forest V N Garg said that schemes would be implemented in future to make zoos more attractive and promote eco-tourism.
