Consignment of adulterated ayurvedic fairness cream seized

The department of food and drug administration today raided warehouse of a cosmetic company here and seized adulterated fairness cream worth around Rs one crore.

"Drugs department had received a report from Maharashtra that the samples of the fairness ayurvedic cream were found to adulterated during laboratory testing," drugs Inspector Deepak Sharma said.

The cream which is claimed to be pure ayurvedic product contains Hydroquinole which is used in allopathic medicines, he said.

Sharma said that if the sample report confirms the mixing of Hydroquinole then FIR will be lodged and cream will be destroyed.

The team was headed by additional drug controller Meerut AK Jain.
