A consortium led by Hitachi has bagged a contract worth Rs 2390 crore from the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCC) for supply and installation of signalling and telecommunications systems between Delhi and Mumbai corridor.
Two contract agreements were signed - Design and construction of signalling and Telecom works and Train Protection and Warning System (TPWS) works on Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, said a senior DFCC official.
The first contract worth Rs 1780 crore for 915 km long route Double Line between Rewari to Vadodara was signed with Hitachi Limited as the lead partner, Mitsui, Texmaco and Hitachi India Ltd as other partners.

The contract has been signed by DFCC director DS Rana, and Mino, Deputy GM, Hitachi Ltd. Japan in the presence of DFCC MD Adesh Sharma.
The work will involve the use of all the latest Signalling & Telecom Technologies like Electronic Interlocking, Multi Section Digital Axle Counters (MSDAC), Train Management and Diagnostic System, OFC based Communication and GSM-R.
DFCC, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) is engaged in planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the dedicated freight corridors and in the first phase, the two corridors namely, Eastern Corridor from Ludhiana to Dankuni (1840 km) and Western Corridor from Dadri to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) (1502 km) are being constructed.
The entire Western Corridor is being funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), while the Eastern Corridor from Mughalsarai to Ludhiana is being funded by the World Bank.
