Constable adopts abandoned new-born girl

On a day Indians are busy celebrating 'Navami', a festival dedicated to women, a new-born girl was found abandoned on the Delhi-Meerut road near Morta village here.

A police official said a call was received this morning about the girl lying wrapped in a ragged cloth.

The girl had turned blue when we reached her, Ranvir Singh, SHO Muradnagar said, adding the baby was rushed to the hospital.

Coming to the rescue of the girl was a childless police constable Shiv Kumar. The constable, posted at Vardhman police post, adopted the baby girl and named her Tamanna.

The 32-year-old constable said, "I will provide her education and want to see her as an IPS officer".
