Constable awarded life imprisonment for rape of Dalit woman

Constable Akhilesh Yadav has been awarded life imprisonment for the rape of a Dalit woman in Samrakhapur village under Asandra police station area of February 5, 2008.

The constable in an inebriated condition barged into the house of the victim when she was alone with her two minor kids while on patrol duty and raped her at gun point, sources said.

After hearing both the sides, Special Additional District Judge Kalpana Misra pronounced the verdict yesterday. PTI COR SAB PG
