Constable hides colleague's service rifle & bullets

Action has been initiated against a police constable, who allegedly hid an AK 47 service rifle and 120 live cartridges at the police headquarters here, which were in the custody of his colleague, over some dispute between them, police said today.

The accused police constable, identified as Atul Gorle, had taken away the rifle and cartridges, without the knowledge of his colleague and hidden them in the parking area of the Special Action Team of the district Police office located on the police headquarter premises here, a press release issued by police said here.

The disappearance of arms created panic among the policemen, as Gadchiroli is the hotbet of Naxal activities.
 

Police launched a search and finally found that the rifle and bullets hidden in the parking area. They also came to know that Gorle was behind the act.

"Action under Indian Penal code and Indian Arms Act is being initiated against Gorle in this regard," the police release said.

Further investigation into the case is on.
