The Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau unit has booked two policemen in neighbouring Palghar for allegedly demanding bribe for favouring an accused in a case.

Constable Suganad Narsule (53) and police naik Manik Jadhav (42) demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe from the complainant, against whose brother a complaint was registered with Dahanu police station, a press note issued by Thane ACB today said.

They made the bribe demand for going soft in the case and ensure while filing of the charge sheet in the court that the case is not of serious nature.

The aggrieved later filed a complaint with the Thane ACB, which verified the allegations and registered a case against the duo yesterday, under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, the release said.
