Manish Hooda, posted with 7th Battalion, was found dead in the water tank in the battalion camp in south Delhi's Malavya Nagar at around 10 AM, a senior police official said.
His body was found in the tank, which has a storage capacity of 1,000 litre, placed on the roof of the barrack where he stayed.
Prima facie, the official said, it appeared that Hooda accidentally fell into the tank and could not come out.
"There is no foul play. There are no injuries on his body. However, we are investigating the case," the official said.
The body has been sent to AIIMS for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
Hooda joined Delhi Police in 2010. His father is a head constable posted at the Preet Vihar police station in east Delhi. PTI SJY
