In a similar incident of November 21, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav yesterday suspended Fatehpur SP Ram Kishore and Kishunpur SHO Sanjay Kumar Yadav.
The action was taken after video of a policeman lathicharging the people standing in queue at a bank in Kishnupur area of Fatehpur went viral on social media and was aired on local news channels.
The chief minister said that the work of police is to "help people, who are already troubled due to demonetisation and lathicharging them is not good".
He also instructed top officials today to deal sympathetically with those standing in queues trying to withdraw money or exchange notes.
