Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said various constituents in his coalition government have "sacrificed" their interests for the sake of the state.

Parrikar was addressing a public meeting in Panaji constituency in the run up to the upcoming byelection scheduled on August 23.

"This government is formed out of some sacrifices... it is the way you look at the things. You can look at the bottle as half empty or half filled. I find it full, half of water is half of air.

"The current government has different kind of component representing different interests. But in common they represent Goan ethos," Parrikar said.

He added that the government will retain interest of everyone who are in the coalition.

The chief minister in his speech recognised that Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai whose vote bank is different from BJP sacrificed for the sake of Goa.

He also said that the leaders like Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party's Sudin Dhavalikar and independent legislator Rohan Khaunte have sacrificed for the sake of Goa by joining the coalition government.

The chief minister also took a dig at the fake news which was circulated quoting him as saying that if he loses Panaji election, he would return as defence minister to Delhi.

"I have seen the new trend of creating bogus news and keep on quoting it time and again. Some national media also fell for it. I had not spoken to the media. I never spoke," he said.

"I was surprised. Then I realised that the news was floated on internet and it was being circulated through social media," Parrikar added.
