Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today directed the officials concerned to ensure that construction workers of the state live a dignified life.
Odisha has emerged as a model state in introducing several welfare schemes for construction workers, Patnaik said after inaugurating the Construction Workers' Service Week here.
"More than 22 lakh construction workers have so far been registered and 11 lakh workers and their family members have been provided an assistance of Rs 800 crore. Dwelling units have also been provided to over 8,000 workers families," the chief minister said.
He asked the construction workers and their families to avail the welfare schemes meant for them.
Patnaik also unveiled two web portals for providing hassle-free registration facilities for construction workers and higher education facilities for their children.
