The Delhi government today held consultations with representatives of northeastern states in Delhi aimed at ensuring prevention of crimes against women and children from their community in the national capital.

A Group of Ministers, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, held policy consultation with students from various communities of the northeast, academics instrumental in setting up northeastern cells, experts working against human trafficking and domestic violence, and activists working on gender sensitisation and cross-cultural harmony.

Sisodia has assured Delhi's northeastern citizens that their safety will be the government's priority and duty.

"All these experts gave their detailed responses on the 7-points under consideration of the Group of Ministers (GoM). Over the next 2 weeks, the Group of Ministers will meet with different stakeholders on the 7-point mandate on women and child safety," an official said.

The Delhi Government recently constituted a GoM to find solutions to stop increasing rapes and heinous crimes on children. Submissions can be sent to the GoM by November 7.
