"The Government has decided to set up Consumer Clubs in one school of each district to act as watch dog for the consumer rights of the school goers," Minister for Consumer Affairs Qamar Ali Akhoon said at a consumer awareness function here at Heritage school.
Akhoon said the step has been taken to prevent children from getting cheated by the unscrupulous shopkeepers.
Constituting the first consumer club at the Heritage school, the Minister announced Rs 10,000 to meet various expenses for it.
Reiterating government's resolve to safeguard consumer rights, Akhoon said need of the hour was to sensitise people about consumer protection laws.
