Container carrying cash from mint overturns

A container carrying new currency notes from the mint at Salboni in West Midnapore overturned in Bankura district today while on way to the Reserve Bank of India, Patna, the police said.

No casualty, injury to anyone or damage to the cash was reported.

Bankura Superintendent of Police Sukhendu Heera said the container overturned at Gobindadham-Chayanpur crossing under Gangajalghati police station while taking a turn.

The cash inside the container was later put in another van which started for Patna.

Officials in Midnapore said the container was carrying cash in denominations of Rs 2,000, Rs 100 and Rs 50.
