The Allahabad High Court today issued contempt notice to the Station Commander of the Allahabad Cantonment for allegedly starting a construction work on a piece of disputed land.
Justice Sanjay Mishra issued notice to Major General Bishambhar Dayal, the Station Commander, and asked him to file a reply by the next date of hearing on April 14.
The court passed the order on the contempt petition of one Ajay Kumar Mishra who alleged that earthwork was being carried out at the instance of Cantonment authorities for proposed construction work on the disputed land, commonly known in the city as Polo ground, just a stone's throw away from the High Court premises.
The petitioner had further alleged that this was in violation of a High Court order in April, 2005 and although a Special Leave Petition challenging the same was pending before the Supreme Court, the apex court had granted no stay on the judgement.
