Contingency plans for Amarnath Yatra reviewed

To deal with any contingency during the upcoming Amarnath Yatra a high level meeting of officers was today chaired by the Inspector General Jammu zone to review the security arrangements.

The inspector General of Police Jammu Zone, Danish Rana, chaired the meeting to review security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra which is scheduled to commence from July 2.

Rana while reviewing the security arrangements said that the security and vigilance should be enhanced in a coordinated manner besides the need for proper regulation of yatra convoys on the national highway.

Stressing for keeping contingency plan ready in coordination with the civil administration, IGP directed the concerned officers to identify the alternate places for accommodating yatris in case yatra halts due to landslides on highway, rainfall, or any other emergent situation.
 

IGP emphasised on wide publicity through media to inform people to undertake their pilgrimage only on the dates as per their registration to avoid any inconvenience.

He exhorted upon the officers to note the highlighted areas of concerns and put in synchronised efforts for the smooth and peaceful conduct of yatra.

Among others the meeting was attended by senior officers of, CRPF, BSF, Army, Police, Armed, IRP, Traffic, Security, SDRF and civil administration.
