Four contractual employees of the Uttarakhand electricity department, who have climbed a mobile tower and have been threatening to jump off if their demand for regularisation of their service was not met, today refused to come down despite efforts by authorities.

Kanchan Joshi, Randhir Pundeer, Darshan Bhandari and Kosturba Nand Pandey did not yield to the efforts of the authorities for the second day today, while their supporters joined the protest at the foot of the tower, official sources said.

Only after Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna returns to the capital on Tuesday, talks on solving the problem can be undertaken, Dehradun Additional DM Harak Singh Rawat said.

Efforts are on to convince the agitating employees, he said, adding that if necessary, authorities may use force to bring them down.
