Contract staff, aide held for robbing UPPCL cashier of Rs 38L

A contract employee of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) and one of his aides have been arrested for allegedly robbing a cashier of the firm of Rs 38 lakh in Loni area here in November last.

UPPCL worker Sunder and his aide Satyendra, both residents of Loni area have been arrested at the Chirodi Nithora Crossing, police said today, adding that two more assailants were yet to be nabbed.

"We got information that Sunder and Satyendra were coming towards Chirodi Nithora Crossing late last night. Police started check and arrested them. They have confessed to their involvement in the robbery," said a senior police officer.
 

Police have recovered Rs 3 lakh of the looted amount, a country-made pistol, two live cartridges and a 9mm pistol from their possession.

According to police, Sunder hatched a plan to loot the cashier, and involved Satyendra and two others to execute it.

On November 20, four armed persons on two motorbikes looted Rs 38 lakh when cashier Anup Singh, along with guard Rama Shankar and driver Pankaj, was going to deposit the amount in a bank. The accused also assaulted Rama Shankar for trying to resist their attempt.
