Contractor excavates diamond from mine

A contractor today excavated a diamond weighing 3.39 carat from a mine here leased to him, an official said.

As per the norm, the contractor, identified as Devi Dayal, handed over the diamond to the officer concerned.

Its cost is estimated to be Rs 3.39 lakh.

"Dayal dug out the diamond from a mine under Dahlan area some 15 km from the district headquarters. The diamond weighed 3.39 carat and is estimated to worth Rs 3.39 lakh," said District Diamond Officer R K Dixit.

He said the diamond will be auctioned and after deducting 11.5 per cent towards royalty, the rest money will be paid to Dayal.
 

Panna district is famous of Diamond deposit in the country.
