N Amarjit (37) was abducted on August 21 and family members lodged a complaint with the police yesterday.
Family members said the kidnappers had asked them not to lodge complaint with the police and demanded Rs 10 lakh for his safe release.
The family of Amarjit, father of a 3-year old daughter, said since he was a small time contractor it was next to impossible for them to give such a big amount. They requested the kidnappers to free the contractor safely.
