Suspected Maoists gunned down a contractor in Odisha's Kalahandi district accusing him of being a police informer, police said Monday.

This is the second such incident reported in Kalahandi's Lanjigarh block in less than 12 hours.

Armed rebels dragged Bhima Dora, who was engaged in road construction, from his residence in Babupadar village on Sunday night, police said.

His bullet riddled body with hands tied was found near the village on Monday morning, an officer of Biswanathpur police station said.

The officer said a hand written note mentioned that Dora was killed for being a police informer.

Another contractor was shot dead at point blank range by suspected Maoists at a weekly market in Malipada village on Sunday afternoon.

A note signed by the Rayagada Area Committee of the CPI (Maoist) said that Rajendra Sahu was killed for being a police informer.
