Contractors held for selling explosive material

Police today arrested two contractors for allegedly selling explosives illegally and also seized electric detonators and gelatin sticks from their possession.

Following a tip-off, sleuths of Commissioner's Task Force, (South Zone) Team apprehended two persons M Madhusudhan Reddy, a building contractor and D Jangaiah, a stone cutting contractor and efforts are on to nab a third accused Rama Krishna, who is absconding, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police N Koti Reddy said.

Police seized 30 bundles of electric detonators, (1500 detonators) besides five gunny bags containing 950 gelatin sticks, the senior police officer said.

The task force had found that Reddy was delivering the explosive material to Jangaiah near Champapet here, he said.
 

The third accused, Madhusudan Reddy, was procuring the explosive material from one Rama Krishna of Nalgonda district in Telangana, a license holder, in huge quantity and was selling it at a higher price to the rock blasting contractors illegally without a license, the police added.
