Carrying posters and placards, the contractual primary school teachers shouted slogans as Kumar sat on the dais demanding parity in salaries and allowances with regular teachers. The music and 'talimi markaz' teachers, also recruited on contract basis, took part in the agitation.
Chaos prevailed as some protesters were even seen throwing chairs.
A peeved Kumar later told the teachers that nothing will come out of slogan shouting as he has set out on a bigger mission to get special category status for Bihar.
Apparently indicating that the protest by the primary teachers could be the handiwork of opposition, he said that "those people on whose instigation you are agitating may later dump you on the streets".
Disapproving the teachers' behaviour, he said that they may lose a well wisher in him if they behaved in such a manner.
Kumar also reminded the protesters that he has come here to take part in his party's function, and it was not an official programme.
