Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) politburo member Krishna Chakraborthy alleged here today that contractualisation and outsourcing have made jobs of millions of people insecure.

Inflow of foreign capital from powerful nultinational companies or foreign direct investment, due to the policy of liberalisation, has wiped out more than 3.5 lakh small and medium industries, throwing millions of workers out of their jobs, the SUCI(C) leader told reporters.

"More than 3 lakh peasants in our country committed suicide. Several lakhs of children died due to starvation, malnutrition and lack of treatment," he said.

SUCI(C) is contesting elections from 80 seats, out of which 16 seats are from Gujarat, he said.

He said people's problems are not resolved by changing the government, but get only further intensified and deepened.

He asked BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to make their positions clear about burning issues.

He said the policies of globalisation, liberalisation and privatisation have aggravated problems of peoples' lives. Privatisation of educational institutes and healthcare have pushed these essential services beyond the reach of the common people, he said.

"The Congress introduced it, while the BJP implemented it more vigorously. All these are major reasons for peoples' problems. Let the Congress, the BJP or Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi tell whether they will continue with liberalisation, privatisation, and globalisation or discontinue these policies if they come to power," he said, adding that neither the Congress nor the BJP touch upon basic questions about such policies.
