Contribution pours in for TN flood-relief

Amid several companies and institutions contributing to flood relief activities, city- based IT major Ramco Group and tyre manufacturer MRF Ltd today handed over Rs five crore to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa here.

Ramco Group, Managing Director, P R Venkatarama Raja handed over Rs 2 crore while MRF Ltd Chairman and Managing Director K M Mammen presented Rs 3 crore to Jayalalithaa at the Secretariat here, an official release said.

Dikshithars of the famous Siva Temple, Chidambaram, also gave away Rs 1 crore to Jayalalithaa.

With the contribution of two companies and Dikshithars, the total fund grew to Rs 28 crore.
 

Yesterday, various corporate houses and banks including TVS Motors, India Cements, Hyundai Motor India and State Bank of India contributed a total of Rs 22 crore towards flood- relief activities in Tamil Nadu.
