With parts of the union territory being lashed by rains in the past few days, a control room had been set up at the collectorate here for help in case of rain-related problems, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy said today.

People can contact the control room on phone numbers 1070 and 1077 for any help from the Revenue or Disaster Management Department in view of the inclement weather prevailing for the past few days, he told reporters here.

Sixteen teams under the head of officials of the Revenue Department had been set up to respond to any call for help, he added.

Earlier, Narayanasamy visited the rain ravaged areas here accompanied by PWD Minister A Namassivayam and Agriculture Minister R Kamalakannan.

Narayanasamy and his ministerial colleagues removed the silt and accumulated garbage in the drains in some of the residential colonies.
