Controversial senior IPS officer Tomin J Thachankary, facing a vigilance probe on various charges of irregularities, has been promoted to the post of Kerala's Additional Director General of Police (ADGP).
Confirming the elevation of Thachankary from the rank of IG to ADGP during the media briefing of cabinet meeting here today, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said it was a routine promotion.
Thachankary was the Inspector General of Police and Managing Director of the Kerala State Co-operative Marketing Federation Ltd.
Thachankary was facing probe for going on a foreign tour allegedly without the consent of the government and also for allegedly amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
