Sources close to the national federation have said that one of the AIFF vice presidents is pushing for an amendment to the constitution for his vested interest -- which is likely to help him retain his post in the next Anual General Meeting.
"He (the vice president) wants to continue in his post in the next AGM but there is a threat to his chances as another top official from his state association has evinced interest in contesting for the post of VP.
"Getting his challenger the post of treasurer could ensure the vice president retains his post," a source told PTI.
As per Article 24 (1) of existing constitution, "A candidate for the post of treasurer shall have served in the executive committe of the AIFF or the executive committee of a member association for a period of at least four years."
Whereas, in the proposed amendment, sent by the vice president, there is no mention of the number of years served to be eligible to become AIFF treasurer.
