A co-accused in an attempt to murder case today fled from the courtroom immediately after a local court pronounced its judgement.

Vikram Pal was one of the six accused who were awarded seven-year rigorous imprisonment in the 2008 case by Additional Sessions Judge Anita Vajpayee.

The 22-year-old, who was on bail since 2008, appeared in the court which was to deliver its judgement. He gave security personnel a slip during finger print process after the verdict was pronounced this afternoon, Public Prosecutor Prakash Gupta told reporters here.

The five other convicts were sent to jail, he said, adding a case has been lodged with the police against Vikram.

All the six had attacked one Hemraj on October 15, 2008, with sharp-edged weapons in Bhagirathpura area here over old enmity, Gupta said.
