A murder convict serving life term at the Central Jail here was killed by a fellow inmate over a monetary dispute, a jail official said today.
Harbhan Singh, lodged in barrack number 2, had a dispute with inmate Amar Singh that led to a brawl yesterday evening, and Amar Singh strangled Harbhan Singh to death, Senior Jail Superintendent B P Tripathi said.
Both Harbhan Singh and Amar Singh were serving life imprisonments, Tripathi said.
Harbhan's body was sent for postmortem and a magisterial inquiry ordered, the jail superintendent said.
