A secretary of the Cooperative Service Society was caught red-handed by sleuths of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000, an official spokesman said today.
According to a complaint lodged by Ajaib Singh, a resident Baran village in Patiala district, Gurtej Singh had demanded Rs 45,000 from him to waive his farm loan.
Based on the complaint, the officials laid a trap and Gurtej Singh was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe, he said.
A case was registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the spokesman added.
