Sixteen persons, including top officials of two agriculture cooperative societies along with some farmers have been arrested by CID sleuths in connection with an alleged fraud.
Those arrested included two presidents of as many single-window agriculture cooperative societies based in the district, four of their directors, two officials and eight farmers.
The official said they were arrested from different locations by a team led by CID ASP Sridhar, an official said on condition of anonymity.

The CID team apprehended eight farmers today for submitting fake passbooks to the societies by duplicating them and securing loans.
