Official of a police station for women in Rajasthan's Dausa district has been arrested for allegedly taking bribe from a rape case accused on promise of dropping charges against him, the anti-corruption bureau said Monday.
Dharm Singh, a constable, had demanded Rs 50,000 to drop the charges under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code. The matter was settled for Rs 40,000 and Singh was trapped while taking Rs 20,000, an anti-corruption bureau official said.
"After verification of the complaint, a trap was laid and Singh was caught while he was taking the money, the official said, adding that he was arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
