A police constable attempted suicide by consuming poison inside the Aliganj police station compound in Uttar Pradesh's Etah on Monday allegedly over family discord, police said.
Mahendra Singh, a native of Etawah, was disturbed over family discord and attempted suicide by consuming poison and was taken seriously ill, they said.
He has been admitted to the district hospital where his condition was stated to be serious, they said, adding that senior officials including ASP Sanjay Kumar visited him in hospital and directed for all possible medical facilities for him.
