Cop detains ten-year-old student

In a shocking incident, the police detained a ten-year-old fifth standard student at Wardhannapet police station late on Saturday night.

The incident came to light on Sunday after his friends approached the media.

According to the fifth standard student Gandam Veeranna, who is a resident of Ammapuram village of Thorrur mandal of the district studying in Wardhannapet Social Welfare Residential School, he was allegedly picked up by the police on Saturday night on charges of theft at a general store in the Wardhannapet.

The student Veeranna said that he was picked by sub-inspector Y Krishna Kumar from the roadside of the hostel on Sunday night and detained at the police station.
 

He also clarified that he had not stolen anything from the general store.

Senior police officers did not comment about the incident.
