Cop held for accepting bribe in Madhya Pradesh

An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) was today arrested by the sleuths of the Lokayukta Police for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000, police said.

ASI Bharat Bairagi had demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe from a tribal man Dalsingh for settling a dispute, a Lokayutka official said.

Dalsingh had a dispute with a man at an occasion to mourn the death of one of his kin. The man had lodged a complaint of loot against him, he said.

The ASI had already taken Rs 7,000 and demanded additional Rs 10,000. Following a complaint, Lokayukta police laid a trap and caught Bairagi at Alirajpur district's Aambua police post while accepting the bribe, the officer said.
 

Police said a case under relevant sections Prevention of Corruption Act was registered and investigations are underway.
