Cop injured in 'accidental fire' in Kashmir's Budgam district

A policeman was injured today when his service rifle went off accidentally while guarding a politician's house in central Kashmir's Budgam district, police said.

Constable Nishan Singh, who was on guard duty at Congress party leader Farooq Ahmad Indrabi's residence in Chadoora area of the district, was injured due to an accidental fire from his service rifle, a police official said.

He said the constable suffered injuries in his right foot and was rushed to a nearby hospital where from the doctors referred him to Bone and Joint Hospital here for further treatment.
