Constable Mohammad Tahir allegedly raped his 13-year-old step-daughter at his residential quarters in District Police Lines in Poonch when his wife had gone to Rajouri district for some work on Sunday night, a police officer said.
The girl narrated the entire happening to her mother, who returned in the morning and a complaint was lodged against the constable in Poonch, he said.
The hunt to track down the cop is on as he has gone absconding after the incident, the officer said adding the medical examination of the girl has been conducted and the report is awaited.
Special Police Officer (SPO) Sunita Devi had married Tahir last year and was living with him along with her 13-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son.
