Cop's wife shot dead

A 40-year-old woman, wife of a

Delhi police constable, was shot dead this morning by unidentified assailants in West Delhi's Bindapur area, police said.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Anita, was fired on when she was standing on Najafgarh Road. The assailants, who came on a bike, fled the spot soon after carrying out the attack.

"We have registered a case of murder. Prima facie, it seems to be a case of personal enmity, police said.

"We received a PCR call at around 7.15 AM that a woman has been shot near Metro pillar number 745 on Najafgarh Road. A police team rushed to the spot and took the victim to Mata Roop Rani Hospital where she was declared dead by doctors," said a Delhi police official.
 

As per the doctors, she was shot in her shoulder from behind and she died due to excessive bleeding. Her body was moved to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for postmortem, he said.

Anita was working as a ward assistant in R.R. Hospital in Delhi Cantt. She was the wife of Delhi Police Head Constable Ombir Singh and is survived by two sons.
