An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) today allegedly shot at and critically injured his senior before committing suicide at a police station in suburban Mumbai.
"ASI Dilip Shirke shot at Senior Police Inspector Vilas Joshi with his service revolver before turning the gun on himself," a police official said, adding that Joshi's orderly also sustained injuries in the incident at Vakola police station.
The incident took place at around 7.30 P.M. When Shirke, who did not report for duty this morning, came to the police station and started arguing with Joshi, the official said.

As Joshi was leaving, Shirke fired two rounds on his back and one on his orderly before shooting himself.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria visited the police station and told reporters that Shirke had got into an argument with Joshi over his absenteeism from duty.
Maria said that Joshi's condition is critical.
Joshi and his orderly were rushed to Leelavati hospital and the inquiry has been handed over to the Crime Branch, the official added.
